tradition makes it tasty
Golden Gallon Acres is a traditional Amish farm located in beautiful Chester County, PA which specializes in the production of raw A2A2 dairy - and not just milk! We make everything from Greek yogurt to cheese to iced coffee! We believe in eating as our ancestors did and avoiding the devastating effects of the modern industrialized food system both on our families and our environment. When you know your food is produced in a time honored tradition on a family farm, you can be sure that every part of your food’s production has been thoughtfully managed. From the feeding and raising of our animals to the processing of our dairy and meats, we are conscious of our duty of care. Everything on our farm is organic, soy-free, GMO-free, and lovingly reared or grown.

WHY GOLDEN GALLON?
By far the most sought after item produced on the farm is our flavorful, raw, golden Guernsey cow milk. The beautiful buttery color of our milk and its rich taste are signature features of this specific breed of dairy cow. First recorded in the 19th century on the British Channel Island of Guernsey, the origins of the breed are a mystery. However, as a breed from the Channel Islands, the Guernsey produces A2 milk which studies have shown to have more health benefits than the A1 milk produced by America's most common dairy breeds.
There are several proteins in milk, but the most closely studied is beta casein which comes in two predominant strains, A1 and A2. This is because beta casein A1 has been shown to have several negative impacts on health. Studies have linked beta casein A1 to difficulties with digestion (also see here) whereas beta casein A2 is far closer to human breast milk and therefore easier for human consumption (infant formula with A2 milk is recommended for babies with sensitive stomachs for this very reason). It's actually believed that the A2 strain of this protein is the ancestral strain and that beta casein A1 was created through genetic mutation of cattle through the ages. Now, only breeds from the Channel Islands or the south of France produce true A2 milk, and we're proud our Guernsey cows are among them.
This is why we celebrate the incredible flavor and health benefits of our raw, golden, A2 Guernsey milk in our farm's name. When you buy a golden gallon for your family, you can be sure that you're providing them with the healthiest, most natural dairy option possible. To us, this means our milk is worth its weight in gold... but don't worry, we don't mean that literally!

We are life-long fans of Aaron & family's dairy products! Most amazing milk we ever tasted. I never can get just milk either; we always need to grab some yogurt or cheese or, better yet, frozen yogurt! Delicious! |
I have been buying goods from golden gallon Acres for around 2 years we have bought eggs, keifir, milk, beef and whole chickens, I can say without a doubt everything is worth it, the people are very nice, happy family, the beef melts in our mouths every time we cook any of it, the whole chicken are great rotisserie chickens perfect size and great taste. The keifir I have gotten a few different flavors and it’s great with the fresh whole milk yummy. The milk is great to make yogurt out of and your own keifir. We have been very happy buying from Golden Gallon Acres the last couple of years, and will continue to buy our meats from them. |
